From the very beginning of its existence the Congregation has always associated its mission with the mystery of Divine Mercy and with the mystery of Mary, the Mother of Mercy. By giving an authentic expression of its spirit, the Congregation should be a distinct sign of Divine Mercy acting in the world.” [Constitutions, Art. 239]
The foundation of the community of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy is the charism which all of the sisters called to this Congregation share. United in this manner, they are to strive for a deep mutual love in the Holy Spirit, Who is the source of unity for the Congregation. ” [Constitutions, Art. 60]
The Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy was founded in Warsaw, Poland by Mother Teresa Eva Potocka on November 1, 1862. Our congregation is approved by the Holy See and has been in existence for over 150 years; it enjoys a proven tradition of religious life.
The center of the life of our Congregation is daily Holy Mass… The Eucharist unites the sisters together in one family of God. It is the source of their sanctification and apostolic work… Every day during Holy Mass the sisters will offer themselves in sacrifice with Christ to the Heavenly Father for the salvation of the world.” [Constitutions, Art. 49, 263]
